Restoration of Department of Tourism Building in Bilkent University

This project won the 2nd price in a competition sponsored by Hilton Hotel.
The concept of this project is Rubik’s Cube. Each part of the Rubik’s Cube represents the individuals as students. When they come together correctly, they act like a single strong piece. In that sense, Rubik’s Cube represents the affective commitment and sense of integrity. Complemented cubic subspaces created to show the adaptation and balance in the space to integrate the whole functions together. Thus, not only the subspaces but also the students should be adapted to the general field. Moreover, in terms of color decisions, the mustard color and tones of purple chosen to create a complemented and pleasant atmosphere for students and users of the building. Epoxy chosen as floor material to provide spacious ambience. Thanks to its durability, life time is much longer than other materials. Also, beech wood creates a natural and soft appearances itself.
